The nominations are in for the fourth LINK nky Team of the Week competition.

To be the winning team, fan votes play a heavy role, along with consideration from our sports team here at LINK.

Nominations are reader-submitted or recommended by our sports team. Our Team of the Week program honors all local sports at all levels, whether it’s youth- or adult-oriented recreation, high school or college, professional or amateur.

This week’s nominated teams are listed below with some information provided by the submitter. The poll where you can vote follows at the end of the article.

CAMPBELL CO. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM

Our submitter writes, “Coming off of some serious off-field issues, the administration, coaches, players who were not part of any of the said issue, have rallied around the kids who have done right and the current two-game win streak (especially beating #20 undefeated George Rogers Clark last Friday) shows that they have stayed focused in adverse conditions, which is really what sports are supposed to teach: accountability and self-discipline in a team environment.”

Campbell County junior quarterback Nathan Smith (1) runs right and scores in the first quarter as teammate Joseph Amato (31) blocks NewCath junior Evan Turpin (52) and freshman Malcom Perrin (63) pursues. Smith ran for three touchdowns in the 28-18 Campbell County victory at Thomas More University earlier in the season. Photo by G. Michael Graham | LINK nky

HIGHLANDS HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TEAM

Our submitter writes, “Highlands’s varsity volleyball team went 4-1 on Saturday, September 24 to win the Cake Classic Volleyball tournament.”
