SC Ministry Foundation and Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) have entered into a collaborative agreement designed to ensure the long-term strength, sustainability, and impact of one of the region’s most respected grantmaking organizations. Beginning with the 2027 grant cycle, GCF will administer SC Ministry Foundation’s grantmaking process while the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati continue to guide funding priorities, criteria and mission.

For three decades, SC Ministry Foundation has been a powerful presence for good throughout Greater Cincinnati and beyond. With roots tracing back to 1979, SC Ministry Foundation was transferred to the Sisters of Charity congregation in 1995 and was renamed SC Ministry Foundation in 1998. Since then, it has awarded more than $165 million in grants to organizations working to build stronger communities and improve the lives of those most in need.

The collaboration with GCF follows several years of thoughtful discernment by SC Ministry Foundation’s Board and the Sisters of Charity Leadership Council as they explored how best to preserve and strengthen SC Ministry Foundation’s mission for future generations.

“This decision reflects our deep commitment to ensuring that the mission entrusted to us continues to thrive well into the future,” said S. Monica Gundler, president of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. “For generations, we have been called to respond to the needs of our time with compassion, justice and care. Through this collaboration with GCF, we are confident that the values and priorities that have guided our grantmaking will continue to shape meaningful investments in communities for many years to come.”

GCF will provide comprehensive grant administration services, including management of the application process, proposal review, grant distribution, reporting and nonprofit support. Funding priorities, grant guidelines and decision-making will remain rooted in the mission of the Sisters of Charity and Catholic Social Teaching.

The collaboration builds upon an established relationship between the two organizations and a shared commitment to strengthening communities through philanthropy.

“We are honored by the trust SC Ministry Foundation has placed in Greater Cincinnati Foundation,” said Matthew Randazzo, president and CEO of GCF. “The Sisters of Charity have created an extraordinary legacy of service and generosity through their grantmaking, and our role is not to change that legacy, but to help steward it. We are committed to faithfully carrying out the Sisters’ wishes, preserving the integrity of their mission, and ensuring that this important work continues to benefit communities for generations to come.”

SC Ministry Foundation’s funding priorities will remain consistent, focused on initiatives that advance the Sisters’ long-standing commitment to education, health care, social justice, environmental stewardship, and the promotion of human dignity. Together, SC Ministry Foundation and GCF will work to ensure that the Sisters of Charity’s commitment to compassion, justice and service continues to make a meaningful difference across the region and beyond for years to come.
