The City of Florence invites the community to join us for the annual Arbor Day Celebration, recognizing the beauty, importance and lasting impact of trees throughout our community. The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kentaboo Park, 418 Kentaboo Avenue, Florence.
Arbor Day is a longstanding tradition that recognizes the essential role trees play in protecting our environment, enhancing our neighborhoods and improving quality of life. This year, the City of Florence was once again recognized as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, marking the city’s 34th consecutive year to receive this distinction.
Florence earned its 2026 Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four core standards: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, dedicating an annual budget to community forestry and observing Arbor Day through an official celebration and proclamation.
This year’s Arbor Day Celebration will include tree planting activities, a brief history of Arbor Day, a reading of the city’s Arbor Day Proclamation and activities highlighting the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, which supports efforts to create and protect habitat for monarch butterflies and other pollinators. A free lunch will also be provided.
The event is open to the public, and residents, families, friends and neighbors of all ages are encouraged to attend. Join the City of Florence as we celebrate 34 years as a Tree City USA community and continue our commitment to trees, pollinators and the natural resources that contribute to a healthy and welcoming community for generations to come.
