Bellevue’s “Art in the Park” celebrates its 25th year on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bellevue Beach Park. This annual event features artists selling original work in a variety of mediums, free art activities for kids, live music, food and drink, and a silent auction benefiting local school art programs.
Art in the Park was created by local artists Diane Witte and Barry Baker. Their informal gathering continued to grow into one of Bellevue’s signature community events.
“Art in the Park started with just a few local artists setting up in the park, and 25 years later it has grown into a full day that involves over 75 talented local artists and craftspeople, volunteers, and live music,” said Tim Wilhelm Committee Chair. “It’s exciting to see something that started so simply continue 25 years later. It’s an honor to be a part of it.”
Supporting local art education has become an integral part of the event. Participating artists donate pieces for a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting art programs at three local schools. The auction’s goal is to provide resources and opportunities to help inspire the next generation of artists. Local student artwork will also be on display during the event.
Budding artists can express themselves at the free Kids Art Tent throughout the day. This year’s activities include marble art, face painting, and more.
