Alexandria, KY — June 10, 2026 — The Kentucky Thorough-Breasts Dragon Boat Team is excited to announce the debut of their photo exhibition, The Other Side of Breast Cancer, which will take place on Friday, June 26 at the Pendleton Art Center in Cincinnati. This exhibition showcases the work of photographer Bryn Weller, featuring portraits of breast cancer survivors who paddle with the Kentucky Thorough-Breasts.
The exhibition features more than 20 portraits that focus exclusively on the backs of breast cancer survivors, offering a powerful perspective on resilience, recovery, and strength. The team issued this statement to explain the inspiration for the exhibition: “People focus on the damage breast cancer has wrought. We decided to focus on the other side—the strength it has uncovered. Looking at the back rather than the front of a breast cancer survivor gives a whole new perspective. Instead of focusing on the physical scars of the disease, we see what the aftermath has created: determination and strength earned both physically and emotionally through supporting, paddling, and competing together.”
The Other Side of Breast Cancer invites viewers to look beyond diagnosis and treatment and instead celebrate the strength, community, and perseverance that emerge on the journey beyond cancer.
