When York Street, (York Street Café’s ) successor closed abruptly in July of 2024, many wondered what would move into the historic space that housed the now shuttered 30 year old restaurant started by Terry and Betsy Cunningham in 1997. Announcing today Jennifer Mccollum states that a revitalized restaurant went into the space. Mccollum’s on York has opened just in time and is beautifully decorated for the winter holidays. If the last name Mccollum is familiar, that is because Richard has been the award winning executive chef for the last several years of both York Street/ and York Street Café. The concept will be “new American bistro ”. Chef Richard and returning Sous chef Josh Rieglesberger , will man the helm in the kitchen with their talented staff . The winter menu came to completion last week and Jennifer says “we are excited to welcome back our old customers and new customers. The interior has been beautifully renovated, with the patio and parking lot being renovated this spring. The space is beautiful, and really was a testament to the love we have for the old building. We appreciate the legacy that was built, and love to hear stories of people who had many firsts in our building. Our family/ and our staff welcome everyone back with open arms. We are excited about this new venture. Upon opening we will debut our winter menu, and updated cocktail offerings, along with a new dessert menu (although we have the blessing of Sherry Baker to keep the key lime pie.) We will be bringing back several restaurant events including the return of Kim from Organic Oracle to give readings on Wednesdays and our monthly wine dinners returning in February.
