Ignite Students work on their co-op project in Ludlow, KY

On Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 pm, three students who attend the Ignite Institute will be honored for the excellent work they have done during their internship semester with Allied Rail Corporation. The three students are Erikah Brown, Nathanial Harmon, and Trevor Fortner. These three students have been working with Allied Rail Corporation in Ludlow, Kentucky, for their final co-op experience while attending the Ignite Institute. Andy Wartman of the Allied Rail Corporation has been supervising their co-op experience. During their co-op, the students produced an intricate 3-D model of a historic railyard storehouse building that is located in the Norfolk-Southern Railyard in Ludlow, Kentucky. The Ludlow Heritage Museum currently leases the railyard property from Norfolk-Southern, and hopes to restore the storehouse building on that property and make it the new home of the Museum. As part of the campaign to raise funds and raise awareness about the restoration, the storehouse model will be used to provide a visual representation of what the restored storehouse will look like. The work that the students did on this 3-D model is nothing short of breathtaking! In addition to creating the 3-D model of the storehouse, the students also created other marketing materials for the restoration project. During the final days of their internship, the students are creating a 3-D model of one of the oldest homes in Ludlow, Elmwood Hall!

The recognition ceremony for the students will be held at Elmwood Hall, located at 243 Forest Avenue, Ludlow Kentucky, on Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 pm. The students and their families will be present, as well as members of the Ludlow Heritage Museum and the Allied Rail Corporation. Too often, we only hear bad news about high school students, but these three young people are wonderfully talented and knowledgeable, and they are so deserving of being recognized for their contribution to the Ludlow Heritage Museum and the greater Ludlow community.
