Thomas Massie released primary poll information Friday morning that shows he has a commanding lead heading up to the May 17 Republican primary. His closest competitor? George Foking Washington.

Public Opinion Strategies conducted the poll on behalf of Massie. The statewide poll surveyed 300 Republican primary voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District.

The results show Massie commanding 71 percent of the vote, with George Foking Washington coming in at 5 percent and second place. Claire Wirth is a pro-Trump Republican and is polling at 3 percent, while Alyssa Dara McDowell is at 2 percent.

“I’m Claire, and I’m a Builder. Like Trump, I’ve built a real estate empire,” said Wirth in her candidate statement. “Now, I’m fighting back against career politicians who are running this nation into the ground. It’s time we finally drain the D.C. Swamp.”

Washington submitted an unusual letter when submitting his candidate information.

“Beware of the beast congress, alone among God’s primates,” the letter says. “They lie, cheat, and steal for their benefit and the special interests they serve. Implement term limits, or they will make a wasteland of the government’s bank accounts and yours. Limit them! Drive them back into the population. For they and they alone are the harbingers of national destruction.”

He also has a series of unusual YouTube videos

Alyssa Dara McDowell is the woman who ran on stage and declared Matt Bevin, the gubernatorial winner at a GOP event in 2019. She has run for local office in Northern Kentucky, including running for Covington mayor in 2012.

If Massie wins the primary, he will most certainly face Democratic candidate Matthew Lehman
