I often visit my local parks to walk or attend concerts. I have noticed several incredible play sets being installed, plus additional features like Pickle ball Courts and Skate Parks. Residents of Campbell County are fortunate to have so many well maintained parks.
Each recreational area has unique features unlike any other. It’s fun to discover new playgrounds, walking trails and sports facilities. Here is my list of the Top Ten Parks Picks, in no particular order:
Cold Spring City Park – Provides several play sets, swings, picnic tables, and lots of shade trees. This park hosts many city events, car shows and concerts.
Alexandria Community Park and Lake: This park provides several play sets, a pavilion, Pickle ball Courts, a skate park, basketball court, swings and a well stocked FINS fishing lake and walking trail. I tend to favor this park in the Fall season when the trees are orange, yellow and red. This backdrop painted by nature makes it a delightful place to walk. The dock provides a scenic backdrop for Prom or Senior photos.

Highland Heights City Park – Enjoy the shade of a large pavilion with many picnic tables, a large play set and coming soon….Pickle Ball Courts, Bocce Ball Court, a Fire Pit and a Hammock Grove!
Robert Barth Lake Park – Bring your fishing pole in every season, (even in Winter for Ice Fishing) you will be met with a beautiful, well stocked Kentucky FINS Lake. Ducks and Canadian geese reside around this lake. The lakeside gazebo is a favorite of mine to enjoy a take-out lunch or a cold drink with friends and family. The Gazebo is a popular spot for Prom Photos!
Extension Office Gardens – The large garden provides many types of blooming flowers and a gold fish pond. Stones steps lead down to the lake and pavilion. A walking trail around the lake rolls past a newly constructed fishing dock. This is a great location to snap photos of flowers, butterflies or friends and family.
Friendship Park – A newly constructed play set welcomes those little ones. It has many features including a large slide! Young children will enjoy exploring the different challenges of this play area.
AJ Jolly Park – A newly constructed play set area with ADA features is a welcomed sight. A long walking trail allows for stretching those legs while immersed in nature. You may consider this walking trail while listening to your favorite music or podcast.
Wilder Splash Park – Need to cool off in a unique and fun place? Bring those swim suits and beach towels. Kids will discover the fun of interactive water play at this splash pad.
Ft. Thomas Tower Park – This play set must be one of the largest in the area and well visited by many. It has spring toys, slides and climbing features. Grab some take-out food and get to this park! Schedule a play date and load up the car!
Pendery Park – Two new play sets welcome young kids. There are several pavilions, a basketball court and blooming pollination zones. Two new bench swings face the Ohio River along a 1 ¼ mile walking trail. This is the home to eight baseball fields and many soccer fields. It’s a Sports complex as well as a place to play and walk.
