Written by Boone County Commissioner Jesse Brewer
As a Boone County Commissioner, I have had the opportunity to work closely with business leaders, developers, financial institutions, housing professionals, and working families across Northern Kentucky. One thing becomes very clear when you serve in local government: public policy matters. The people we elect to higher office directly impact on our ability to grow jobs, create housing opportunities, improve infrastructure, and keep Kentucky economically competitive.
That is why I was proud to endorse Congressman Andy Barr for the United States Senate back on April 15, 2026, and why I’m just as proud to continue supporting him today.
Kentucky Republicans have several candidates to choose from in this race, but after looking carefully at the field, I believe Andy Barr is not only the most qualified candidate, but also the strongest candidate to keep this Senate seat in Republican hands this November.
Andy Barr has built a record in Congress that reflects Kentucky values. He is unapologetically conservative, consistently supportive of free enterprise, and deeply committed to economic growth and opportunity. At a time when inflation, interest rates, and economic uncertainty continue to put pressure on working families and small businesses, Kentucky needs a senator who understands both conservative principles and the realities of the modern economy.
One of Andy’s greatest strengths is his understanding of banking and financial policy. As someone involved in local government and housing issues, I know how critical access to capital is for communities like ours. Whether it is financing for new housing developments, loans for small businesses, or support for local banks that serve our communities, sound financial policy has a direct impact on economic development across Kentucky.
Andy Barr has become one of the leading Republican voices in Congress on banking and financial services issues. He understands that overregulation from Washington can hurt local banks, reduce lending opportunities, and ultimately make it harder for families to buy homes or for entrepreneurs to start businesses. At the same time, he recognizes the importance of responsible financial systems that promote long-term economic stability.
His leadership in these areas matters tremendously for Kentucky’s future.
Housing affordability is another issue that deserves serious attention. Across Northern Kentucky and many parts of our state, families are struggling with rising housing costs and limited inventory. Young families are finding it harder to purchase their first home. Workforce housing shortages are impacting employers and communities alike. Local governments are working every day to balance growth, infrastructure, and affordability.
Andy Barr has shown a willingness to engage on these issues in a practical and pro-growth way. He understands that the solution is not more federal bureaucracy, but policies that encourage development, investment, lending, and economic expansion. Kentucky needs leaders who understand that housing policy and economic policy go hand in hand.
What also stands out about Andy is his consistent support for business and job creation. Northern Kentucky’s success has been built through a strong partnership between the public and private sectors. We have seen tremendous economic growth because Kentucky has remained a business-friendly state that welcomes investment and entrepreneurship.
Andy Barr has fought for lower taxes, reduced regulation, American energy production, and policies that help businesses expand and hire. Those policies are not abstract talking points. They directly impact job creation in communities like Boone County and throughout the Commonwealth.
At the same time, Andy has maintained a strong conservative record in Congress. He has supported border security, defended the Second Amendment, fought against excessive government spending, and consistently stood for constitutional principles. Kentucky voters deserve a senator who will not waver when it comes to defending conservative values in Washington.
Importantly, Andy Barr also has the experience and political strength necessary to win a statewide race. Republicans cannot afford to take this Senate seat for granted. The stakes are too high. Control of the Senate could very well come down to races like this one, and Kentucky Republicans need to nominate the candidate who gives us the best chance to win.
Andy has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to build broad coalitions, raise the resources needed to compete, and communicate a conservative message that resonates with both the Republican base and general election voters. He has won tough races before, and he has the experience necessary to run a disciplined and successful statewide campaign.
In today’s political environment, electability matters. Qualifications matter. Experience matters. Andy Barr brings all three to this race.
As a county commissioner, I understand how important it is to elect leaders who can work effectively, understand policy, and deliver real results for the people they represent. Campaign rhetoric is easy. Governing is harder. Andy Barr has proven that he can do both.
Kentucky has an opportunity to send a proven conservative, an advocate for economic growth, and a leader with deep knowledge of financial and housing policy to the United States Senate. I believe Andy Barr is the right choice for our state, our economy, and our future.
That is why I am proud to support Andy Barr for U.S. Senate, and I encourage Republicans across Kentucky to do the same.
