The Kentucky Department of Transportation is offering the public a chance to provide feedback on some of the state’s largest infrastructure projects.
Now through Aug. 30, KYTC will open a monthlong review period for its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, a four-year listing of scheduled transportation projects funded by federal transportation funds. Individuals can submit comments either by email or phone.
Comments should be directed to State Highway Engineer James Ballinger at KYTC’s Department of Highways, located at 200 Mero Street, 6th Floor, Frankfort, KY 40622. Alternatively, comments can be emailed to selena.curry@ky.gov or by phone at (502) 564-3730.
The program includes projects involving highways, bridges, public transit and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Megaprojects such as the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project are included within the list.
“The draft 2026 STIP includes federally funded projects of all sizes across many modes of transportation, all with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for Kentuckians and supporting the economy through safe and efficient connections to what matters most,” KYTC Secretary Rebecca Goodman said in a news release. “The plan offers the public a look at where we expect federal investments to be made in Kentucky over the next four years.”
The STIP links to Kentucky’s nine Metropolitan Planning Organizations, each of which identifies federal projects in its transportation improvement plan. MPOs represent the following urbanized areas: Bowling Green, Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky, Clarksville-Oak Grove, Evansville-Henderson, Huntington-Ashland-Ironton, Lexington, Louisville, Owensboro and Radcliff-Elizabethtown.
