Kenton County is seeking a developer for the apartments slated to appear atop the county’s new parking garage, for which a contractor was selected at the end of last month.

The garage itself will replace the current employee parking lot. The construction of the garage will be integrated into the construction of the Brent Spence Corridor project and is scheduled for completion in 2025.

“We strive to think innovatively when addressing our challenges,” Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said in a press release. “When we knew we needed to build a parking garage next to the Kenton County Government Center to accommodate the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project, we wanted to use that opportunity to bring new residential housing to the city of Covington. We’re excited by the opportunity to further the revitalization efforts of the 12th Street interchange by bringing online much-needed units.”
