It’s National Influenza Vaccination Week, and the Northern Kentucky Health Department is encouraging residents to get flu vaccinations.
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses infecting the nose, throat and sometimes the lungs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Getting a flu vaccine annually serves as the best way to help prevent potentially serious flu illness from spreading throughout the community, officials said.
