Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger and a group of local service and advocacy organizations will launch a new pilot program in October to prepare graduating seniors for careers in logistics, manufacturing, and other supply chain professions.
“Today’s employers are seeking young professionals who possess both technical knowledge and strong workplace skills,” said Jesse Simmons, president of Supply Chain OKI, one of the organizations involved in the pilot program. “This pilot is about much more than helping students find a job — it’s about creating sustainable career pathways while developing the next generation of talent for our region’s growing supply chain and manufacturing industries.”
Officially dubbed the Lloyd Memorial High School Supply Chain Pre-Apprenticeship Pilot Program, the pilot was conceived in partnership with the high school, Legion Logistics, Supply Chain OKI, the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, NaviGo and BE NKY “to create a structured school-to-career pathway for graduating seniors,” according to a press release from BE NKY.
The program will introduce students to the basics of the sector while also providing them with courses in general workplace readiness, financial literacy, paid work-based learning, career coaching and even transportation assistance during the first 90 days of employment. Five seniors will participate in the pilot.
