Walton-Verona Board of Education re-appoints two appeals committee members

The Walton-Verona Board of Education approved the re-appointment of two members to the district’s certified evaluation plan appeals committee during their meeting Thursday evening.

Director of Pupil Personnel Rob Hartman was re-elected as board representative to the committee, and Director of Student Support Services Caitlyn Gottshall was re-elected as alternate board representative.

The evaluation appeals panel was developed as part of the district’s Certified Evaluation Plan, which lays out the procedures for evaluating school personnel. The plan requires that the board of education establish an evaluation appeals panel to review complaints about staff evaluations.

According to the evaluation plan, if a staff member feels that their written evaluation is “incomplete, inaccurate or unjust,” they may appeal to the appeals committee.

The appeals committee is composed of six people: two members and two alternates that are elected by certified employees of the district, and one member and one alternate appointed by the board of education. Each member serves a one-year term that runs from July 1 to June 30, and members may be reappointed or reelected.
