Covington City Commissioner Ron Washington will be honored as the Covington Education Foundation’s person of the year at a dinner event on June 14 at 6 p.m. The dinner will take place at Drees Pavilion Memorial Overlook in Devou Park.

Washington is a graduate of Holmes High School and worked in law enforcement before being elected to the Covington City Commission in 2020. He was the first Black police officer to work in the Florence PD and served as the chief deputy of Kenton County Sheriff’s Office for five years.

“This is very humbling,’’ Washington said in a press release from Covington Independent Schools. “I am honored to have been selected and I am beyond grateful that the funds raised will benefit my fellow Bulldogs.”
