Heng Yang, a senior at Conner High School in Boone County, was selected for the 2023 U.S. Senate Youth Program.
Yang and another student were selected from among the state’s top student leaders to be part of this national 104-student delegation.
Yang will also receive a $10,000 college scholarship from the Hearst Foundations.
Yang will represent NKY March 4 through 11 during the 61st annual USSYP Washington Week.
As a student representative of the Boone County School Board, Yang engages with students across the school district, oversees committees regarding student voices and helps on projects like mental health websites.
Yang also serves as co-president of the GoPantry Ambassador Council, where he arranges district-wide food drives, volunteers at a local hospital with hopes of becoming an oncologist and works at his family’s Chinese restaurant. Academically, Yang ranks in the top 1% of the state’s high school juniors and seniors.
