The Florence Police Department has named two suspects related to a shooting at a Taco Bell over the weekend.

Eli Nunez, 19 of Union and Cody Love, 18 of Elsmere, have been identified and charged in connection to the shooting that took place on Jan. 6 at the Taco Bell on U.S. 42 in Florence.

Upon arrival, officers located subjects that stated an unknown male had fired a handgun at their vehicle at least one time while in the restaurant’s parking lot.

No one was struck by the shots, but the vehicle of the person who reported the incident was struck at least once.

Through the investigation, it was discovered that the reporting party had agreed to meet an unknown group of subjects in a white passenger car on Southpointe Drive in Burlington to sell a PlayStation video game.

During this meeting, one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the reporting party. The reporting party fled the area in their vehicle and was followed to Taco Bell on U.S. 42 in Florence, police said.

Once at Taco Bell, police said a suspect exited the white passenger car and fired one or two rounds at the reporting party’s vehicle. The reporting party and the suspect’s vehicle all fled the scene.

Nunez is charged with attempted assault in the first degree, wanton endangerment in the first degree and criminal mischief in the first degree.

Love is charged with four counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree.

The Florence Police Department’s Investigative Unit is continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone that may have further information is encouraged to call the Florence Police Department at 859-371-1234.
