The city of Elsmere entered a new agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for bridge and sidewalk construction at its Dec. 9 council meeting.

The city council approved an agreement that would provide $100,000 for the design phase of a new Buffington Road bridge and sidewalk, as well as $594,000 for state oversight of the project. Elsmere would be responsible for all aspects of the construction with a minimum of 20% matching funds.

The council also approved a bid from Eaton Asphalt, an asphalt paving contractor based in Walton, to work on the Swan and Stallworth Reconstruction Project. At $353,935, it was the lowest bid submitted following the city’s advertisement of the project.

An additional municipal order approved by the council authorizes a 50-50 cost-sharing agreement with Sanitation District 1 for stormwater costs on the Swan and Stallworth Reconstruction Project, which cost $244,794 in total.
