Walton Mayor Gabe Brown announced he is resigning at a city council meeting Wednesday evening.
Brown announced the resignation over Zoom during an executive session held for “discussions or hearings which might lead to the appointment, discipline, or dismissal of an individual employee, member or student without restricting that employee’s, member’s, or student’s right to a public hearing if requested.”
According to city clerk Gevana Hicks, Brown left the meeting after announcing his resignation. Hicks said Brown has not yet turned in an official letter of resignation.
The city declined to provide further comment.
