Riegler Blacktop will construct the new sidewalk along Boone County’s Frogtown Connector Road.

Among the eight bids submitted for the project, Riegler Blacktop was the low responsive bidder at a cost of $321,999.48, Boone County Assistant County Administrator and County Engineer Rob Franxman said.

“I will point out that there was one bid below Riegler’s bid,” Franxman said. “Unfortunately, that contractor was not pre-qualified with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which is a requirement for any federally funded project. It was a circumstance of them letting their prequalification lapse.”

The project is 80% funded by a federal grant through the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments and is scheduled for completion on Sept. 1, 2024, officials said.

“Riegler’s bid is in reasonable conformance with the engineer’s estimate that was performed in June 2022,” Franxman said. “In addition, Riegler Blacktop is fully pre-qualified to perform the work and has a long history of performance for the county.”
