Calling all crafters, a brand new tool has arrived at the main Boone County Public Library’s Innovation Lab in Burlington.
The Sawgrass SG-500 printer is designed for sublimation printing and heat pressing. With it, crafters are able to transfer detailed and colorful images on a variety of items like shirts, hats, tumblers, mugs, coasters, mousepads and more.
An image of what is desired to be printed is uploaded to the library’s computer and is then printed on the sublimation paper. Then, the heat press is used to transfer the image onto the chosen item.
Each print is $1 and the library carries 8.5″×11″ and 8.5″×14″ paper sizes.
Crafters must bring in their own item to transfer images onto, and it must have sublimation coating either included with the item or applied.
