NorthKey Community Care, the state-designated Community Mental Health Center for Kentucky’s eight northernmost counties, has launched a new 24/7 mental and substance use crisis hotline.
“The line connects callers with NorthKey’s trained local behavioral health professionals who can assess their needs, provide support and help identify next steps,” according to a NorthKey press release. “People can call for themselves or for a family member, friend or someone else they are concerned about.”
The hotline can be reached by dialing 859-GET-HELP (859-438-4357). The 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline, the local branch of which is managed by NorthKey, will not be affected by the establishment of this new service.
“Mental health needs come in all shapes and sizes and people may not know what kind of help they need. Sometimes it’s a crisis. Sometimes people just know something is wrong,” said Danielle Amrine, president and CEO of NorthKey. “NorthKey’s goal is to make the first step clear: call us at 859-GET-HELP. It’s easy to remember and open to everyone. We can help determine what comes next.”
