With extremely high temperatures and heat index values forecast for the area this week, Campbell County is opening cooling centers to provide residents with a safe, air-conditioned place to escape the heat.
The following places are open as cooling centers:
Campbell County Public Library Branches
- Cold Spring, 3920 Alexandria PikeÂ
- Carrico/Fort Thomas, 1000 Highland Ave.
- Newport, 901 E 6th St.
Library hours:
- Monday through Thursday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Sunday: 1-5 p.m.
Campbell County Senior Center
Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at 3504 Alexandria Pike in Highland Heights.
During the extreme heat stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and check on older adults, neighbors, family members and others who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
