Gov. Andy Beshear has appointed Fred Macke III as Campbell County’s next property valuation administrator, replacing Daniel Braun, according to a July 31 news release.
Macke, a Republican, was running unopposed for the position in the Nov. 3 general election. He is a certified residential appraiser with Bluegrass Real Property Services LLC.
What does a property valuation administrator do?
Braun, the previous Campbell County PVA since 2002, was indicted in June on two counts of “Procuring or Promoting the Use of a Minor by Electronic Means,” which is a Class C Felony. A Class C felony carries a sentence of five to 10 years.
To be “indicted” means to be formally accused of a crime by a grand jury, which means the legal system has found sufficient evidence to proceed to trial but does not determine guilt.
According to the indictment, Braun contacted a minor he believed to be under the age of 18 on at least two occasions in March 2026. A detective with the Attorney General’s Office posed as a minor in the conversations that led to Braun’s arrest on April 16.
Due to a conflict of interest arising from Braun’s employment with the Campbell County PVA, the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office is overseeing the case.
Braun is currently serving home incarceration. His next court appearance is a status hearing scheduled for Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m.
