Erlanger’s 41018 zip code has been named the most stressful zip code for parents in Kentucky.

The ranking comes from a nationwide survey from A Mission for Michael, a residential mental health provider with locations in multiple states. Erlanger was ranked as the 36th most stressful in the nation.

The organization surveyed just over 3,000 parents around the country in June 2026, which aimed to measure their attitudes toward typical parental pressures, such as financial strain, childcare costs, expectations for schools, commuting, household duties and work-family balance.

Why is Erlanger so stressful?

According to the organization’s analysis, “for many parents in Erlanger, childcare represents one of the largest ongoing household expenses. Balancing childcare costs with housing, transportation and other family necessities can place considerable strain on budgets, particularly for younger families.”

“Parental stress is rarely caused by one single issue,” said Anand Meta, executive director at A Mission for Michael. “It is usually the result of several pressures building at once—financial strain, lack of time, academic expectations, work demands and the feeling that parents have to be constantly available and constantly performing. What this study shows is that in some communities, those pressures appear to be especially concentrated.”
