Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has another new nonstop flight.
The inaugural flight from CVG to Austin took off on Thursday, June 4.
The Austin route is Southwest’s seventh destination from CVG and its first nonstop connection between the airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The announcement comes as the airline marks nine years of service at CVG.
Austin is becoming an increasingly popular destination, as Texas’ capital city has experienced rapid population growth and cultural relevance over the past 10 years. Austin is known for its burgeoning technology industry, higher education, and music scene.
“We’re so excited to introduce our customer base in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati to the great state of Texas and all the connections they can make through Austin to places out west,” Southwest’s CVG Station Manager Noel Curry said in a news release.
Southwest now offers year-round service from CVG to Austin, Nashville, Baltimore, Denver, Orlando and Chicago Midway, along with seasonal service to Phoenix. The airline has also increased flight frequencies on several routes compared to the previous year.
