State Treasurer Mark Metcalf’s office will host an outreach event in Independence on Friday, June 12 related to unclaimed property.

The event is free and open to all Kenton County residents and will inform attendees on the process of claiming unclaimed property from the state. Treasurer staff members will be on-site to guide attendees through the process of making a claim.

“Currently, more than $23.5 million in unclaimed property is available for Kenton County residents to claim,” according to the treasurer’s office. “Many Kentuckians are surprised to learn they have funds waiting to be recovered, including forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance proceeds, utility deposits and other assets.”

The event will take place on Friday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the historic Kenton County Courthouse in Independence. You can also check for unclaimed property at anytime by visiting treasury.ky.gov/unclaimedproperty/Pages/overview.aspx.
