The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky, located at 436 W. 13th St. in Covington, received $7,500 in donations from the newly launched and unified ‘The 410: Give Where You Live NKY’ giving circle initiative.

The initiative, hosted by the Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky, brings together the organization’s two signature giving circles: The 410 and Give Where You Live NKY. Giving circles are a form of participatory philanthropy in which multiple donors pool funds to achieve a greater collective impact than they would individually.

Horizon held its inaugural kickoff event last Thursday, May 7, to raise funds for the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky, a year-round overnight cold shelter.

“Our members showed up ready to make an impact right here at home,” Horizon Community Foundation CEO Nancy Grayson said in the release. “This is what collective giving looks like and we’re just getting started.”

Additional events and grant opportunities are scheduled throughout the year as part of the program’s ongoing cycle of engagement and impact.
