An 18-year-old man turned himself in Sunday evening after a shooting late Friday night in the Eastside neighborhood of Covington left a 13-year-old in “critical condition,” the Covington Police Department said.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to an apartment in the 100 block of East 11th Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to UC Medical Center, where he is reportedly in critical condition, police said.

Saturday, police issued a warrant for the arrest of Ryan Cupp from Independence. They said Cupp is a person of interest in the shooting.

Just after 6 p.m. Sunday, Cupp turned himself in and is now being held at the Kenton County Detention Center.

Cupp is charged with first-degree assault in the shooting of the victim in this case
