The Kentucky Special Olympics Region 2 Basketball Tournament will come to Sports of all Sorts in Florence this weekend. The event will see nearly 450 athletes on 40 teams from throughout the commonwealth, including 17 from Northern Kentucky, come to compete for a spot in the state tournament in March. Teams from Central Kentucky will also compete in Florence.

“Games will get underway on four courts at 9 a.m. [Saturday],” according to an announcement from Special Olympics Kentucky. “Championship games will begin starting as early as 11 a.m. The tournament’s final game of the day will start at 5 p.m. Teams will return on Sunday for a total of four games starting… All four Sunday games will be championship games.”
