The Covington Board of Commissioners has signed off on the beginnings of the next phase of utility installation at the Central Riverfront Development, located at the old site of the IRS building along the northern Ohio riverfront.
The Board voted Tuesday night to approve contracts with KZF Design and Messer Construction, the former of which will perform the design work and the latter will actually perform the construction. Documents submitted to the Board before this week’s meeting put the design costs at $565,190.
The second phase will see the construction of a parking garage, a land bridge, underground telecommunications infrastructure, sewer and water infrastructure and various aspects of the landscaping. The scope of the work of the first phase will also be augmented as part of the design contract.
