George Best was appointed to the Lakeside Park City Council at a special council meeting on Dec. 22.
Best will occupy the seat on the council left open by Cassi Schabell, who resigned from the council earlier this month after moving out of the city.
“I just want to keep going the various services we have going now and will have in the future,” Best said when asked about his goals for his time on council.
Best was born and raised in Covington but has lived in Lakeside Park for the last 37 years. He’s retired now but formerly worked as an insurance professional in loss prevention and risk management for about 45 years. He retired last year. He has also served on the Kenton County Joint Code Enforcement Board for about 25 years. He will need to formally relinquish his seat on the board in order to legally serve on the council.
Best will serve out the remainder of the council term, which concludes at the end of 2026. From there, he can either step down or run for election. Council terms are two years.
