Republican Seth Winslow Young, a Villa Hills resident, has announced his candidacy for Kentucky House District 63.
Young, a first-time candidate for public office, jumps into a GOP primary with two other candidates: incumbent Rep. Kim Banta, who’s held the seat since 2019 and Cole Cuzick, a former aide to Congressman Thomas Massie.
House District 63 includes parts of north Boone and Kenton counties along the Ohio River, covering the cities of Villa Hills, Ludlow, and Bromley, as well as parts of Fort Mitchell, Crestview Hills, Florence, Erlanger and the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport.
In a campaign announcement published on LINK nky, Young outlined his priorities, which include expanding economic opportunities for working families, increasing resources for classrooms, tackling crime associated with the I-75/71 corridor and advocating for measures like term limits. He added that he has dedicated recent years to researching policies and developing legislative proposals.
“The Commonwealth does not belong to special interests or political dynasties,” Young said in the announcement. “It belongs to the people who wake up early, work hard, raise families, and try to build a life here. My mission is simple: put Main Street ahead of insiders, raise our standards, and fight without apology for the people of District 63.”
The filing deadline for Kentucky legislative races is Jan. 9. Primary elections are scheduled for May 19.
