The Union City Commission approved a series of key appointments and leadership assignments during its regular meeting Monday night, filling several board positions and superintendent roles for the upcoming year.
Richard Wilkinson officially swore an oath as an alternate member of the Union-Walton Joint Code Enforcement Board, beginning his term on Jan. 1, 2026.
Commissioners also approved the appointment of James Lyle as a full member of the Union-Walton Joint Code Enforcement Board. Additionally, Bobby McDonald was appointed as a part-time code enforcement officer for the City of Union.
Several leadership positions within the commission were also reassigned, and new roles were filled.
Commissioner Kimberly Tuyn was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments. Furthermore, this role highlights her commitment to regional governance and collaborative initiatives.
Commissioner George Eldridge was appointed Commissioner Superintendent of the Community Engagement and Communications Committee, while Douglas Bine was appointed Commissioner Superintendent of the Public Works Department.
The commission appointed John Mefford as Commissioner-Superintendent of the Physical Planning and Finance Department. Mefford was also chosen to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.
The commission approved all appointments during Monday night’s meeting.
