Fort Thomas resident Sharon MacKnight has officially filed to run for Fort Thomas Mayor in the 2026 election.
She filed her paperwork on Nov. 19, a moment she describes in a press release as meaningful and humbling.
“I love this community deeply,” MacKnight said in the release. “Filing today with my family there to support me reminded me exactly why I decided to run. I want to help bring integrity, transparency, accountability, and honest communication back to our local government.”
MacKnight first announced her intention to run in August 2025 and said that the conversations she’s had with residents since then have strengthened her commitment.
She noted that her priorities include strengthening ethical compliance, protecting taxpayer dollars, preserving Fort Thomas’s historic character and green spaces, supporting local businesses and ensuring every resident has a voice in city decisions.
“Fort Thomas is more than a place on the map; it’s our home,” MacKnight said. “It would be the greatest privilege to serve this wonderful community as your mayor.
Fort Thomas Councilmember Andy Ellison has also announced his intent to run for mayor.
