Taylen Kinney, former Newport High School basketball player who committed to Kansas in September, will return to NKY in November for a special preseason game.
The game, organized by Holmes High School graduate Isaiah Revels and his company Step Higher Academy, will see eight teams from around Kentucky and Ohio compete in a series of preseason matches at Holmes.
“This event is all about elite competition, community pride and giving young athletes a high-level platform right here in Northern Kentucky,” said Revels in a press release.
The event will take place on Nov. 22 at the Holmes High School gym, starting at 3:30 p.m. The main event will feature Kinney’s team, Overtime Elite, pitted against Huntington Prep. The event will coincide with Kinney’s return home for his senior night.

The following match ups will take place at the Tip Off Classic:
- Pickerington Central High vs. Summit Country Day School
- Princeton High vs. McNicholas High
- Lakota West High vs. Frederick Douglass High
- Overtime (RWE) vs. Huntington Prep
