The Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation is launching its Appointed Civic Leadership Academy in Northern Kentucky.
The program, called AppointedNKY, will hold its inaugural session on Oct. 17 at Northern Kentucky University from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The initiative is a collaboration between the Women’s Fund, Northern Kentucky University, Horizon Community Foundation and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
AppointedNKY is a nonpartisan program aimed at preparing Northern Kentucky residents to serve on local civic boards and commissions. Participation is free and open to the public. The academy will provide instruction on local government structure, ethics, finance, and other topics relevant to public service.
The Northern Kentucky program will feature content tailored to Kentucky laws and processes, along with opportunities for engagement with local officials and community leaders. Two events will be held each year at NKU.
Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the inaugural event.
The Appointed Civic Leadership Academy first launched in Cincinnati in 2023 and has since trained more than 1,500 participants, with over 200 going on to serve on civic boards.
