Kenton County is warning residents of scammers who are texting residents about traffic tickets, pretending to be the “DMV.”
They claim you owe an “overdue traffic ticket” and threaten to suspend your license or registration if you don’t pay through a fake link. The Commonwealth of Kentucky does not have a DMV office. Driver’s licenses are only issued through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Legit tickets are handled only through official court/state channels. The Kenton County Attorney’s office offers a traffic safety program for those who qualify.
If you have questions about a ticket, call the Kenton County Attorney’s office or the District Court directly.
