Covington’s Oktoberfest is approaching, bringing back everyone’s favorite beers and German-inspired foods to MainStrasse Village.

The event, scheduled for Sept. 12 through 14, will feature German food, beer, and live entertainment. It will be held along Main Street and in Goebel Park, with vendors and activities spread throughout the neighborhood.

Covington’s Oktoberfest has been a staple in MainStrasse Village for decades, attracting residents and visitors to the city for the annual event. The festival dates back to the late 1970s, around the time MainStrasse was being redeveloped into a historic neighborhood and cultural district.

Covington-based Braxton Brewing Company will serve as the festival’s beer sponsor, with all of the brewery’s signature beers available on tap in pour carts throughout the event.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in various cultural events, including the Dirndl Dog Costume Contest and Pretzel Eating Competition. Multiple bands and musical artists will perform live on two different stages throughout the festival, starting around noon each day and continuing until 8 p.m.

Starting on Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. through Sept.15, at 5 p.m., the City of Covington will close Philadelphia Street from West 5th Street to West 6th Street.

Beginning Sept. 11, at 9 a.m., the closure on Philadelphia will extend from W. 5th Street to the parking lot of 602 W. 6th Street. W. 6th Street from Philadelphia to Main Street will also be closed during this time.
