Covington Police are asking the public for help in an investigation of a shooting that occurred in the Eastside neighborhood on Wednesday night.
Police were called to a scene in the area of 13th Street and Wheeler Avenue around 9:35 p.m., according to a police press release.
There, they found a 17-year-old female, whose identity has not been revealed due to her age, who had suffered “a grazing gunshot wound to her ankle,” according to the release. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood, with non-life-threatening injuries.
Subsequent neighborhood canvassing led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male in Newport around midnight. The suspect’s name has likewise not been shared due to his age, but he was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in the 1st degree and a single count of assault in the 2nd degree.
