The St. Elizabeth Edgewood-Covington Hospital in Edgewood has been ranked as the number one hospital in Kentucky by U.S. News and World Report, a publication known for its ranking lists of various institutions, such as higher education and healthcare.

St. Elizabeth also ranked as “high performing” in 20 procedures and conditions.

“We have always placed emphasis on delivering excellent overall patient experience by providing high quality care,” said Garren Colvin, president and CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, in a press release. “Being named the #1 hospital in Kentucky is a prestigious honor, but more importantly, it is a testament to the extraordinary care provided by our associates, physicians and volunteers.”

The publication analyzed over 4,400 hospitals in 49 states and 95 metro areas throughout the country. To determine the hospital rankings, “U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care,” according to the same press release.

The methodology for determining the publication’s “Best Specialty” and “Procedures & Conditions” ratings analyzed over 800 million records of patient care.
