Fort Wright passed an ordinance that would raise the salaries of the next mayor and city council members at their June 4 meeting.
Council member Jason Collins asked council to consider raising the salary a few months ago. While the change won’t take effect until 2027, when the next elected mayor and council take office, many members of the council believe the change reflects the work being done now.
“Dave spends a lot of time doing this work,” council member Jay Weber said. “No matter what we pay him, it’s not enough. So this is just a token of appreciation for what he does.”
