A vehicle was pulled from the Licking River in Morning View Monday morning, according to Boone County Water Rescue. An occupant, whom officials confirmed was dead, was found inside the vehicle.

Area agencies observed tire tracks leading into the river Sunday evening, which led water crews to be dispatched around 9 p.m. The search was called off early Monday due to unsafe water conditions, but resumed around 10 a.m. Monday.

That’s when public safety divers located the vehicle about 20 feet off the bank of the Licking River in about 7 feet of water.

Information about how the vehicle entered the river or the occupant’s identity is currently unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
