Fort Thomas Fire Chief Chris Amon introduced new firefighter Craig Emerson at the May 19 city council meeting.
Amon said his department had an opening after longtime firefighter/paramedic Mike Watson retired as of May 1. Emerson was previously at the Florence fire department, and before that, had emergency response experience in Walton
“He’s already assimilating very well into his crew,” said Amon.
The chief then invited Emerson up to receive his badge. His wife pinned on his badge.
Emerson thanked the city and introduced some of his family members who came to support him.
“With me, I have my wife, Julie,” said Emerson. “I have my oldest son, Jackson, my middle son, Colton, and my youngest, Bennett, 10, eight and five. And then I have Julie’s parents, my in-laws, Jim and Deborah Nielander. Jim is a retiree at the City of Covington Fire Department as well, so they’re supporting me. Couldn’t do without them. Thank you.”
