On Tuesday afternoon and into evening, severe weather and localized flooding are possible in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties.
“Thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening,” according to a hazard alert issued by the National Weather Service Tuesday morning. “Some of these storms could become severe with large hail and damaging winds. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. In addition, heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding issues.”
Storm and rainfall arrival forecasts vary by county, but the chance of precipitation for most of the region is 70% with gusts of wind reaching up to 20 miles per hour. Overnight rainfall is expected to reach between a quarter and half of an inch.
