The Boone County Alliance will distribute door hangars containing suicide prevention literature to residents, businesses and organizations Saturday morning.

The initiative, called Take a Walk, Save a Life, is a “grassroots effort to deliver potentially life-saving suicide prevention resources directly to county residents,” according to a press release from the organization.

“This initiative directly addresses growing concerns about youth mental health in our community,” said Angelena Boone, director of the Boone County Alliance, in a press release. “By bringing these resources directly to residents’ doors, we’re ensuring that help is accessible to everyone who might need it. One conversation, one resource one moment of connection can save a life.”

Volunteers will meet at the main branch of the Boone County Public Library in Burlington on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. Anyone unable to attend is still encouraged to contact the alliance at (859)655-6872 or aboone@mhankyswoh.org to arrange door hanger pickup.
