Sydney Stevins of Alexandria is the latest Northern Kentucky lottery winner after scratching off a $50,000 winning ticket.

Stevins, who purchased the winning ticket at Wilder Liquor in Wilder, said she was sitting in her car when she scratched the ticket off.

“I scratch it off, and I’m a person who checks my numbers at the top. I kind of glance over and it was just nothing and then all of a sudden, the seven stuck out to me,” she said. “I looked at it and thought, this isn’t right. It’s not often you see that.”

Stevins took the ticket back into the store and asked the clerk to scan it.

“The owner was jumping up and down, excited, ready to hug everybody,” she said. “My heart just kind of dropped. It was exciting.”

Stevins said she normally buys $10 and $20 tickets, but that the $30, $50,000 Cash Scratch-off called out to her. She added that it helped that she had won $20 on a previous ticket and only had to put $10 towards the ticket purchase.

Stevins claimed the winning ticket and walked away with a check for $36,000 after taxes. She told officials she would use the winnings to remodel her home and prepare for the future.

Wilder Liquor will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.

There are still six $50,000 prizes remaining on the $50,000 Cash game.
