Fort Mitchell is hosting an Arbor Day Tree Giveaway at the Fort Mitchell City Building on April 26 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The city’s Municipal Tree Commission, chaired by Nicole Clements, is hosting the event. Volunteers and residents will also pitch in, including Stacey Grabow, who ordered the seedlings.

During the event, over 1000 bare-root tree seedlings will be given away, all carefully selected by the tree commission. Seventeen types of trees will be available, including paw paws, silky dogwoods and pin oaks.

The Arbor Foundation has recognized Fort Mitchell as a Tree City USA community for 13 years, and their Arbor Day observance is part of that distinction.

“Not all cities have tree boards—we do,” Fort Mitchell City Administrator Edwin King said. “This is a priority in our city. We invest in planting, pruning, and maintaining our trees to preserve them for future generations.”

The city is giving away trees on a first-come, first-served basis and is not limiting it to Fort Mitchell residents. King said they run out of trees every year.

“This is one of the most popular tree giveaways in the area,” King said. “Our incredibly active tree board sources high-quality trees.”

Tree commission members will be on site during the giveaway to answer questions about the trees provided.
