Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at state buildings to fly at half-staff on March 20 in honor of Sergeant George Ramirez, a corrections officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory in Oldham County, who died in a vehicle crash while on duty on March 10.

Although it is not required by law, “Gov. Beshear encourages all individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute,” according to a press release from the governor’s office.
